Sequel, a startup engineering better health and wellness experiences for women starting with a leakage-preventing tampon, is partnering with Albaad, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of feminine hygiene products and wet wipes. With the support of Albaad Fem Division’s production capabilities, Sequel will bring its first product to the feminine hygiene market in 2023. Sequel’s proprietary Sequel Spiral tampon design absorbs fluid mechanically and efficiently, meaning it will absorb fluid more evenly and not leak until it is full. With two granted patents and three more pending, Sequel needed to build a better supply chain and the find right manufacturing partner to bring this product to market. “We are so proud of all the research, design, development and technology that has gone into creating the Sequel tampon,” says Greta Meyer, Sequel CEO. “We knew from the outset the only way to deliver a truly innovative product was to find a manufacturer able to help execute our vision. We are thrilled to have built this relationship with Albaad Fem, which is the next big step towards seeing Sequel tampons on store shelves.” Albaad Fem, which is based in Israel, manufactures a range of products for retailers, brands and institutions and operates as a vertical producer, managing the entire process from raw materials to end product. Its machines have the ability to produce high-quality, customizable products at scale and Albaad Fem has deep expertise in the feminine hygiene space, which makes it an ideal partner for Sequel.
“Albaad is a global leader in the area of feminine hygiene products with a high level of technology and know-how, and we are pleased to partner with Sequel to bring new products to the market,” says Albaad CEO Jacob Heen. “Joining forces with a great startups like Sequel is expected to speed up the development of innovative products and strengthen Albaad’s international reach. We look forward to more successful partnerships leveraging our strong positioning.” “Our vision is to have cooperation with startups in all our divisions—tampons, nonwoven and wipes, and bring new innovations to the market,” said Albaad CTO Chanan Adler. “We are committed to working with startups like Sequel and helping them bring their product to market.” With the production and manufacturing agreement in place, Sequel is preparing to submit for FDA clearance in early 2023. Sequel was founded by two high-level athletes and Stanford-educated engineers, Meyer and Amanda Calabrese, who are building the products they wish they had on game day, and elevating the standards for products long left behind.
